Saturday was big project day on the homestead. During the week I have to take small steps towards my goal; by that I mean that I only have about an hour a day to spend in the garden. I wake up EARLY, so I can fit my garden fun in, just as the sun rises. I get super cranky if I don’t wake up on time and I miss this window! Here is a link to a video of my first early morning small steps: https://youtu.be/eByH0q4ZVWc
On Saturday I can take on the bigger projects like garden rebuilding or canning the food I am harvesting. My big project this week was rebuilding some of the raised beds in my garden. I abhor asking for help! Let’s just throw that out there and be honest. With this in mind, I have to tell you, that I started this project by myself.(My Knight in Baseball Cap & Jeans was Scouting with my boys. So glad he is so involved with them!)
O.K., I have to eat some humble pie here, because I have to admit that I way over estimated my strength. At the same time I way under estimated the weight of the wood for the raised beds. I also needed 4 extra arms to hold the wood while screwing it together! I don’t know why moms don’t have eight arms!?! I am going to put in a complaint about that to my Father in Heaven when I get there. Any hoo, my wonderful son, “The Fisherman”, came to my rescue.
As we rebuilt these new garden beds, it reminded me of the very beginning when we created the front yard garden. I put together a video of our project day. If you want to see how to frame out raised beds then watch and learn. There is a secret to getting them to last longer. In the video I also flashed back to the very beginning of the Front Yard Garden. It was fun to take a trip down memory lane and relive this special time in our lives and the crazy way God provides sometimes! Enjoy!
I understand what you mean… mothers really should have more hands. But then again, maybe that’s why we have children 🙂
