It is going to rain and rain and then rain some more. Sorry South Carolina, we had our own flood down here in Houston Texas last year and it wasn’t pretty. Amazing what the human spirit can endure and come back from! Hang in there!

Here in Dallas Texas, because of the rain, this is the perfect time to sink in those Fall cool season baby plants. We started our Fall crops indoors under a grow light, but don’t worry if you don’t have a grow light set up. You can buy your starts at local nurseries and feed stores. See what we are planting in our Fall garden. See what didn’t germinate at all! Go buy your baby cool season plants and sink them in along with us!

I hear cool weather is coming just around the corner so some plants to do by seed now in the garden are: beets, carrots, spinach, turnips, radish, sugar snap peas and lettuce. My kids and I will be out planting these in between rain storms!

As I said in the video, one thing about my grow light that I would change is to get a 4 bulb grow light fixture instead of the 2 bulb one that I got. The reason is; the sprouts on the sides get leggy reaching in towards the middle. Here is the grow light system I would have chosen if I could do it over again. I also really like the Jiffy seed starting system that my friend Sam helped me get started with.
