I HATE being sick. Not that anyone loves being under the weather, but I absolutely despise it! Maybe it is because I am a mom, couldn’t help but notice there is VERY little down time in that job description. I love my kids, but they are needy! All too soon I am really going to miss that, but for now I need something that is going to get me back in the game, and fast!

When I start feeling a scratchy throat or stuffy nose, I get out the big guns: Fire Cider and essential oils. Nine times out of ten I can defeat the virus before it ever takes hold. No kidding it really works!

Fire Cider is a great cold & flu remedy
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup chopped ginger root
  • 1 med onion
  • 10 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 2 jalapeno peppers, chopped
  • 1 lemon zested and juiced
  • 1 lime zested and juiced
  • 3 rosemary sprigs or 2T dried rosemary
  • handful of thyme
  • 3-4 cayenne peppers or 1/4 teas dried
  • 1 T turmeric
  • 1/4-1/2 Cup rose hips
  • 1Q Apple Cider Vinegar
  • raw honey to taste
Instructions
  1. Put all ingredients (except honey) in a large jar(1/2 gallon)
  2. pour apple cider vinegar over
  3. Cover and place out of direct sunlight to ferment.
  4. Make sure you open the lid to “burp” every couple of days
  5. After 6 weeks, strain and remove all solids
  6. Return liquid to jar and add honey to taste
  7. Drink 1-2 oz as up to 3 times per day at the onset of cold symptoms
