Let me Introduce You to my Herd ; The Rabbit Shepherd

This post was written by my 10yr old son, who so bravely started his own business, breeding & selling rabbits. He has learned so much from this adventure!

Cam with rabbits 2011
Just started with my first rabbit in 2011.

My bank account was empty, I needed cash. I thought of starting up my own business of breeding and selling show rabbits. They sell for $100. Of course, I thought I would be rich, but no, its not that simple.  Holland Lops are THE HARDEST rabbit to breed. Something as simple as Summer can cause them to not breed well. I have learned a lot about caring for rabbits. I will be talking more about this subject later. Let me introduce you to my herd.

This is Burton Guster he is my favorite rabbit. I got him from another rabbitry. He is a very good fit for my does and very curious. He, as well as all of my rabbits, love to get out and play in the yard.

This is Mopsy, one of the rabbits I started my rabbitry with. I originally had four I now have two. She is one of my main does and very friendly she is also very phat.

This is Cottontail,  another one I started with. Her broken fur coat is very beautiful for breeding and I have gotten some of my best babies from her. She also got fourth place at a show.

This is Patches, one of my babies that Cotton Tail had. I have not bred her yet because it’s Summer, but I will breed her soon and get some beautiful babies, I hope.

This is Jeth, Burton Guster’s baby, I am sure you can see the resemblance. He would be a great show rabbit but his ear got bit so he can not show.  He is a wonderful breeding buck.
Valentine Hope
This is Valentine Hope she is the nicest rabbit out of all of the rabbits. I know her babies will make great show rabbits and wonderful pets.
Mopsy
This is Beso which is Spanish for kiss, because she was born on Valentines Day. She has big and beautiful litters.

They all look wonderful! I had a pet Lionhead but sadly had to give her back as she got “mean” and would bite. I hear Holland Lops can be really sweet bunnies.
