That mud pie looks good enough to eat!

Feels so good to be outside again after the hotter than hell period kept us in the air conditioning. My kids are riding bikes, playing hopscotch and making mud pies in their outdoor kitchen! This is the perfect time to create some garden fun! This Fall we created some mosaic stepping stones. We wanted to share this fun Fall project with you. As you move about your garden these stepping stones will bring sweet memories!

Family Matters- a Mama duck with her ducklings

To make this fun project there are some supplies you will want to buy ahead of time and some prep you will want to do.

First you want to get a stepping stone mold and cement to pour into it. You can plan ahead for your memory making day by ordering a kit. Order one for each child.

After you get your kit you want something to mix your cement in. I asked for an empty icing bucket at my grocery store deli/bakery.

We wanted various colors of tile or stained glassto add to our designs. Buy at your local craft store or have it delivered to your door.

We found it added to the fun to have some letter stamps to enable us to put a message on our stone. The letter stamps come in the kit in the link above.

Once you have all the supplies you are ready to create! Trace around your mold to make a circle on paper the same size that the stone will be. This can be used to create your mosaic. If you get an ink pad you can even put the letters on just like it will appear on the finished stone.

Mix up the cement according to package directions. Note; Less water is better.

Pour the cement into the mold, smooth it out & let your child transfer their design onto the surface of the wet cement.

Wait a bit(about 10 minutes) for cement to firm up, then push the letters in to make your message. Let it dry overnight and there you have it a masterpiece to be enjoyed everyday in the garden!

Have fun making memories for the garden! I pass by my stepping stone memories every day & they make my heart smile!
