I am a country girl at heart who is stuck in the city; Dallas, Texas to be exact. So I say,”Bloom where you’re planted!” I did just that. I built myself a chicken coop and raised chicks. Yum,fresh eggs. I raised a lot of food in my front yard garden. To think when I started out I didn’t even know what kale looked like. Now I eat it almost daily. Raising rabbits was the next step for my small urban farm. All this I had to do on a strict budget. That means I have to supplement my chicken feed with black soldier fly larvae in summer and meal worms in winter. It means I have to bust pallets to create a rabbit fence around my garden. I have a lot of experience to share but I remember what it was like to be a newbie and need things illustrated step by step. While my sweet family thinks I am a little nuts(in a good way)I know my mother and grandfather would be so proud. So if you are pining for the country life, I challenge you to bloom where you are planted and let me help you make something beautiful and delicious!
